12 December 2011 / HIGH SCHOOL FAYRE RAISES HUNDREDS

The school's main hall was transformed into a festive wonderland and each year group ran their own stalls selling anything from chocolate fondue fruit skewers and gingerbread, cakes and cookies to the chance to win a bottle in a bag and a nail painting stand.

Parents and local businesses were also invited to sell their goods including jewellery and gifts, cards and stationary, food, drinks and clothing stands.

In total the event raised over £850. Evan Morgans, Chairman of the Friends of Truro High School (FoTHS) and organiser of the fayre, said:

"This annual event at the school is a super occasion with the students really throwing themselves into the spirit of it all." said Evan Morgans, Chairman of the Friends of Truro High School (FoTHS).  "The event really kicks-off the Christmas season in style."

"We held a judging competition for the girls' stalls and needless to say the winner and by far the most popular was the I'm A Teacher...Get Me Out Of Here! stand - a chance to vote for which teacher, including the Headmistress, should do a Bush Tucker Trial!"

Proceeds from the fayre will be used to buy items that make the school experience even more enjoyable - like the recent digital weather centre and WiFi in the Sixth Form Centre.

"Huge thanks must go to FoTHS for all their hard work in setting up the fayre and to all our stall sellers," said headmistress Caroline Pascoe.  "It was a real success."
