The da Vinci Surgical System gives surgeons an advanced set of instruments to use in performing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, in which the surgeon controls via a console. Our budding medical professionals were able to learn about the possible applications of the ground-breaking equipment, and the benefits over open and traditional laparoscopic surgeries. With hands-on simulations, our girls were able to try out the robot, moving small structures such as loops and baubles around different obstacles within their ‘operating’ field.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our young scientists; witnessing this cutting-edge technology first-hand sparked scientific curiosity among our girls, providing invaluable insights into the future of surgical innovation.
The guidance and support from the RCHT medical professionals, including Dr Nick Battersby, throughout the visit were instrumental in enhancing our students’ understanding of medical advancements, further inspiring them to pursue their passions in the field of medicine.
