Last week, there was a double celebration for Allie who, as well as picking up 11 exceptional GCSEs, also discovered she has been shortlisted for the John Locke History prize.

Allie joined Truro High in the January of Year 10 and, in order to make the best progress possible, communicated with her teachers and caught up with all the work she had missed in the Michaelmas term ahead of arriving at school.

Her hard work and dedication certainly paid off – Allie earned a raft of top GCSE grades including in Spanish, her third language.

The John Locke Institute, based around the universities of Oxford and Princeton, runs the world’s largest essay competition with entrants from over 100 countries. Allie’s essay about the construct of gender throughout history impressed the competition’s judges, who are senior academics from the University of Oxford.
