Following its national win last year, top all-girls’ independent school, Truro High School for Girls, has been shortlisted for two national awards for educational excellence in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2021.

Having been named as the UK’s Small Independent School of the Year 2020, Truro High has this year been shortlisted for the Independent Girls’ School of the Year national award.

The news follows the school being shortlisted for UK Pre-Prep of the Year earlier this month.

One of only a handful of schools to be selected from across the UK in 24 categories, the shortlist includes schools such as Roedean, Benenden, Dulwich College, Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Rugby.

The awards aim to highlight the quality of the student experience in independent schools and celebrate the transformative and innovative ways in which the winning institutions prepare pupils for their future lives.

Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Matthews said: “It is absolutely fantastic to see our unique and special school recognised so widely as providing phenomenal opportunities and a first rate education. At THS, we are motivated by the joy our students bring to learning and by the fantastic way they embrace every opportunity. It is the happiness of the girls that drives us, meaning that we constantly strive to develop unparalleled school experiences for them.”

“Girls’ schools are wonderful places. It is well documented that they are places where girls thrive; developing confidence, resilience and a love of learning. To be recognised as national leaders in such a highly competitive field is a real honour and testament to the utter dedication the strong team at THS has to providing the very best education a girl could ever hope for. To say we are delighted would be an understatement!”

The winners of all categories in the annual Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2021 will be announced later in the autumn.
