Truro High Prep 6 class in business as part of the Young Enterprise ‘Fiver Challenge’

Truro High School’s GCSE students are well known for coming out on top at the Young Enterprise Innovation Awards every year, but now its Prep 6 pupils are also in business and bursting with ideas all thanks to the ‘Fiver Challenge'.

With an initial investment of £5, the girls now have four weeks to come up with a business idea and turn a profit before submitting their company reports for a nationwide competition.

The girls will then decide how to spend or donate their profit, an excellent way to engage and develop positive attitudes from an early age.

A Level Business Studies teacher, Mr Tom Elliott, and Prep 6 Form Tutor, Mrs Heidi Carveth, will be offering the girls their expert guidance throughout the process. Every week, the girls will learn skills vital for running a successful business ranging from how to conduct market research to keeping their accounts in order and advertising their products and services.

Today’s lesson saw the girls discussing ideas ranging from setting up shop as a bakery to dog walking and washing cars.

There will also be the chance to win further investment with company logo and best sales pitch competitions. Prizes on offer in these national contests include £50 Amazon vouchers.
