A place where girls are empowered to be their authentic selves, we are extremely proud that our students consistently attain high standards academically in all disciplines. But it’s about more than just the lessons.

This year, girls headed off to some of the world’s top universities to study subjects including Astrophysics, Law, Medicine, Accounting, Animal Behaviour, Modern Languages, History and Performing Arts. More than a quarter of the year group were offered unconditional university places with 100% of students achieving the grades required to meet the offers from their first choice universities – many of them Russell Group or Top 10 universities.

For example…

Maddie headed to the University of Edinburgh to study Astrophysics. World-renowned for its astrophysics department, Edinburgh ranks 4th in the UK in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for physical science and has strong links to major research facilities across the world, including CERN, TRIUMF, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and a number of principal astronomy facilities.

Maya headed to Newcastle University to read Modern Languages. Newcastle is part of the prestigious Russell Group and both rank in the UK’s top 5 universities for modern languages in the Guardian University Guide 2020. She earned unconditional offers to both her top-choice universities due to the strength of her application.

Charlie headed to the University of Bristol to read Medicine. It’s been a long journey that has seen her excel in a demanding admissions process in order to achieve her ambitious goal. On average, for every ten students applying to study medicine at university, only one will be offered a place.

Holly set off to Loughborough to study Textiles Innovation and Design. Loughborough has for the last 5 years ranked in the top 5 universities in the UK for Fashion, Textiles, Art and Design in the Guardian University Guide, the Sunday Times Good University Guide and the Complete University Guide. Recent destinations include Liberty, Diane Von Furstenberg, Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith, John Galliano and Jimmy Choo.

Grace headed to the University of Exeter to read Law. Part of the Russell Group, Exeter ranks in the top 10 institutions in the country in the Guardian University Guide. Its School of Law counts some of the world’s foremost lawyers and law officials amongst its alumni including President of the Malaysian Bar Council, Dato Ambiga Sreenevasan; Former Attorney General for England and Wales, Jeremy Wright; British Royal Family solicitor, Fiona Shackleton; Chairman of leading global insurance broker, Willis International Ltd, Sarah Turvill; and current Indonesian National Chief of Police, Muhammad Tito Karnavian to name but a few.

Charlotte headed to Mountview Academy of Theatre Studies to study Actor Musicanship. Its alumni include Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse Michael Longhurst, 2018 Olivier Award winner Giles Terera (Hamilton), 2017 Olivier Award winner Rebecca Trehearn (Show Boat), 2017 Evening Standard Award winner Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar) and Eddie Marsan, Lindsey Coulson, Ken Stott, Douglas Henshall and Mina Anwar.

These are just a few examples. Every girl at Truro High is encouraged and supported to be the best she can be.

We want our girls to have big dreams and the skills, resilience and tenacity to achieve them.
