Dalvenie and Rashleigh House

Our House Parents and their families live in accommodation attached to the boarding house. Dalvenie House or Rashleigh House is their home and your daughter will always be treated as one of the family. They are the parents who can be there to support girls with their homework where needed. They will be there at the end of every school day to chat over a cup of tea. They will be there to take them on an exciting trip or activity every single weekend.

Dr Liz Dollins Head of Boarding

As Head of Boarding, Dr Dollins has direct responsibility for all the boarders and her primary concern is their care and welfare. She monitors the boarders’ academic progress (in liaison with the Form Tutors) and endeavours to ensure that their School life is fulfilling without being overloaded. Dr Dollins lives in Dalvenie with her husband, Mr Noble, and their flock of ducks.

Miss Vicky MatherRashleigh/Dalvenie House Parent

Miss Mather is the House Parent with responsibility for both Rashleigh and Dalvenie House and has been at the school for a number of years. When she’s not House Parenting, Miss Mather can often be found with her horse on the bridle paths around Newquay.

Mrs Kate Roberts – Rashleigh House Parent

Mrs Roberts has been at the school for a number of years and is responsible for the welfare and pastoral care of the older boarders.

Mrs Roberts lives in Rashleigh with her husband Mr Roberts, who is part of the school maintenance team, and two friendly dogs who are always up for a cuddle with a homesick boarder.

Your daughter’s home from home…

Rashleigh House

Rashleigh House is modern, welcoming and has rooms that look out over the Prep School field or towards Truro. All the rooms have ensuite bathrooms with showers, washbasins and a toilet. They also have dedicated workspaces for study and a noticeboard with space for photos and letters of friends, family, pets and favourite bands.

There are two sitting rooms with widescreen televisions, Wii consoles and DVD players where the girls can socialise together and unwind. There is also a huge laundry room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Those up to Year 11 normally share a room with up to three other girls. Those in the Lower Sixth usually share a room with two other girls whilst girls in the Upper Sixth usually share a room with one other girl.

Dalvenie House

Dalvenie House is modern, light and friendly with rooms that look out over the school’s Court Gardens.

Each room can take a maximum of four full-time boarders. Girls use the bathrooms with showers opposite their rooms. They have access to a laundry room and, of course, the super large lounge with widescreen TV, Wii and DVD player. There is also a pool table, which the girls regularly use to challenge each other and the staff, a piano and a fully equipped kitchen should they wish to indulge in some home baking.

Dr Dollins’ ducks live in the Court Gardens next to the house and the girls have the opportunity to collect their eggs daily, if they wish to.

The rooms either look out on to our games fields or over the cathedral, the city and the rolling countryside beyond. Monitored internet access is available throughout via the school’s protection system.

Girls who aren’t involved in these activities will often choose to spend time with friends in town or making use of the school’s facilities for sports or music practice.
