It’s a tremendous accolade – the highest ranking ever achieved by a school from Cornwall.

The news tops off a week of celebrations which began with the announcement that Truro High has been shortlisted for the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2018. The all-girls independent school is the only educational establishment in Cornwall to make the cut.

Whittled down from hundreds of schools from across the country in 17 different categories, the shortlist includes institutions such as Roedean, Benenden, Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Eton and Rugby.

Headmistress Mrs Sarah Matthews said: “It is incredibly exciting to be shortlisted. There is tough competition for the awards and this is truly a reflection of the wonderful enthusiasm of the girls and the hard work put in by their teachers, and indeed all our staff, to make sure that everyone makes the most of every day at Truro High. We want all our girls to think big and have bold ambitions and I think it is this energy and appetite for learning that has caught the eye of the competition’s judges.”

The winners of all categories in the annual Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2018 will be announced later in the autumn.

Truro High is ranked in the top 5% of schools and colleges in the country for value-added at A Level and is Cornwall’s top school for A Level and GCSE results in the Sunday Times Schools Guide. The School has also recently been listed by the Telegraph in the Top 10 Best Value Boarding Schools in the UK.
