Coding race car robots, jumping behind the wheel of a rally car, learning how to change a tyre in the pits and mastering trackside first aid were just some of the activities on offer to our Year 7 and 8 students today as part of Girls on Track day.

Led by Truro High teachers and the team from Girls on Track UK, the day aimed to inspire the next generation of female motorsport professionals to take the lead out on the race circuit. Student motorsport ambassadors from our Greenpower Engineering team were also involved in leading workshops.

Girls on Track UK is a joint initiative run by Motorsport UK and the FIA, which aims to inspire, connect and celebrate women in motorsport in order to help the next generation see the incredible opportunities on offer to them in every aspect of the sport.

The day follows last night’s THS Motorsport Club evening lecture which included a lecture from David Richards, the Chairman of Motorsport UK and Prodrive. There were also talks from Colin Williams and Neil Yates, from Toniq and Rallyprep, on electric vehicles and from Dr Cristiana Pace on sustainability in Motorsport.

We are the only school in the country to be recognised as an official motorsports club by Motorsport UK and it is a great honour have hosted this event for the organisation as part of Cornwall Motorsport Month.
