At Truro High Sixth Form one-to-one tuition and support throughout the UCAS process ensures your daughter can build the strongest application and earn a place at her first choice university.

The UCAS Process…

The formal process begins in the Lent term of Year 12 however research on her chosen course and building a personal development portfolio may start long before this. Our regular support sessions will take this one step further and help to identify areas in students’ personal statements that can be built on to help them stand out from the crowd. This might mean taking on extra work experience or developing specific skills required for her course over the summer break.

On return in Year 13, students will receive weekly support to create their personal statement and complete their online applications. We have an impressive record in helping our students secure offers from their preferred universities, and we are proud of that success.

Subject specific preparation is also offered in addition to this support ranging from the bespoke programmes for Medicine, Engineering and Law through to historiography classes for those wishing to study History.

Thinking about Oxbridge…

Our tutors will guide every girl through the process of applying to the university which best caters to her career aspirations, abilities, interests and learning style. For some, this will be Oxford and Cambridge, world-class institutions renowned for their research, teaching and the calibre of student who attends them.

Successful Oxbridge candidates are passionate and truly dedicated to their subject. They are intellectually curious, independent thinkers who relish the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the subjects they enjoy.

In order to best showcase your daughter’s passion to admissions tutors, our teachers will support her in developing both extra-curricular interests in her subject area and organising as much practical experience as possible. They will provide expert guidance on writing and reviewing personal statements, and applying to any relevant events, courses, or admissions sessions. With contacts at both universities, we will also arrange visits to the universities as well as providing first-hand advice about which College to choose.

Overseas applications…

In an increasingly global community it is understandable that many students will want to take advantage of courses offered in universities overseas. The USA, Australia and European universities can be exciting alternatives to studying in the UK, and with tuition fees rising, studying abroad can be an affordable option.

We encourage students to research all options for their chosen course. Support is available should they choose to apply overseas to ensure that application deadlines and entrance exams are all in place. Support with personal statements and individual applications will be provided along with a supporting written recommendation.
