High School Sports Day’s the perfect end to a top sporting year

Truro High School pupils have showed off their athletic prowess during three days of sporting competition.

All age groups took part in the three separate sports days – nursery, prep and senior school – working hard to win points for their teams.

Amongst the excellent Prep School performances was an outstanding show of skill by Astra in year 6 who threw a rounders’ ball over 35m.

Not to be outdone, the seniors matched the juniors’ efforts at amassing team points – particularly Flossie Martin in year 10.

The school’s serious athletes – some of whom compete at county, regional and national level – produced some top quality performances. Millie Deacon in year 10 broke the 400m record and Ellis Davey in year 9 smashed the 200m record.

Head of PE, Kathryn Barbery-Redd, said: “All three events were a great success. We were blessed with beautiful sunshine and perfect conditions. It really was a celebration of athletics performed in a truly ‘sportswoman’-like manner and a fitting end to an extremely successful sporting year.”
