Devon and Cornwall’s top independent school transforms for magical Christmas Market
Fourteen handmade log-style cabin fronts adorned with artificial snow lined the main school hall filled with students and retailers selling locally-made festive treats and gifts.
2000 baubles and over 150m of fairy lights strung from the ceiling added to the spectacle whilst an atmosphere buzzing with festive cheer completed the school’s metamorphosis into a magical winter wonderland.
The transformation was all due to the tireless hard work of the school’s PTA who spent many months preparing for this highlight of the school calendar.
Father Christmas even dropped in to officially open the market and hear the last minute Christmas-wishes of many awestruck children with the help of his Sixth Form elves.
The festivities were kicked off with several heart-warming carols from the Prep School Choir led by Dr Liz Dollins.
Stalls and games run by students, parents and staff included snowball bowling, handmade Christmas cards, reindeer food, a dazzling glitter nail and hair salon, silent auction, festive hamper raffle and handmade wreaths to get front doors looking extra special this winter.
The school’s Sixth Form were busy fundraising for the outreach work they will be undertaking next summer in Cambodia with Edukid whilst Truro High’s Young Enterprise teams were test driving their latest products which included handmade truffles and Liberty print hair scrunchies.
There were also many highly desirable luxury retailers and local artisans for those on the hunt for Christmas presents. Shoppers had the chance to buy a whole host of exciting goodies ranging from gingerbread houses to stained glass ornaments and local cheeses to bespoke artwork.
