Truro High School ranks in UK’s top 10 girls’ boarding schools

Truro High has just been ranked in the UK's top 10 best independent Girls' Boarding Schools in the Best-Schools 2019 League Table.

Thousands of private schools across the country are considered for these prestigious rankings, which are compiled by leading education consultants, Best Schools.

Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Matthews said: “This is absolutely fantastic news and a testament to the importance we place on ensuring every student achieves her very best. Whilst small, boarding is at the heart of our community – it is a warm and nurturing environment that offers a real home from home for our girls, so it’s no wonder that places are filling fast.”

“Girls join us from all over the world to be part of the Truro High family, and we are tremendously proud to offer them a space where they can excel academically and develop into bold and ambitious young women who are fully prepared for the exciting future which lies ahead for them.”

The news comes as a new government report ranks Truro High in the top 5% of schools in the country for progress made by its students. Published last week, new league tables from the Department of Education reveal that not only do girls at the school achieve some of the highest A Level results in the country, but they also make more progress than their equivalents in the majority of Sixth Forms across the state and independent sector.

The announcement rounds off a fantastic year at the school which achieved a 59% A*/A pass rate at A Level earning it the title of the highest ranked small independent school in England for A Level results. The achievement is on top of the school’s position as number one in Cornwall for A Level and GCSE results in the Sunday Times Schools Guide 2019.

Girls from all over the world travel to Truro High School to be part of this success. The journey is now being made even easier for students, with a new direct flight from London Heathrow to Newquay Cornwall Airport scheduled to start from April 2019.

This will make travelling to Truro High School even easier. Passengers arriving at Heathrow will be able to take the short 45 minute flight to Cornwall without even leaving the airport. Flights will run seven days a week.
