This weekend millions will be getting the bunting out for the climax of the royal celebration which began on April 21 when the Queen turned 90: her Majesty’s Official Birthday.

Roads and walkways across the country will be transformed into the street party of the century and our girls had to join in the fun.

Taking inspiration from the historic street parties which have commemorated momentous events such as VE Day, the Prep School corridor was transformed into a palace for the day adorned with festive bunting and lots of cheer.

Dressed head to toe in patriotic colours, the girls tucked into a feast of classic British party food all created under their own steam. Union Jack cupcakes, piping hot cheese straws and many more delicious treats filled the tables for the girls to celebrate this once in a lifetime moment.

Pupils had also designed and created their own crowns and royally-themed artwork in class in preparation for the special occasion. From hand crafted birthday cards to crown jewels created from fruit and foraged leaves, the girls employed great creative skill and imagination to create one of a kind pieces.

The party was rounded off with a rousing rendition of “God Save the Queen”.

Head of Prep, Mrs Alison Miller said: “Today’s celebrations were the sort of event that makes Prep School so special. The girls spent a fabulous afternoon creating a feast fit for a Queen and sharing it with their friends. It’s been a right royal affair filled with fun, friendship and festivity: a real celebration not only of her Majesty’s special day but of the wonderful community we have at Truro High.”
