There was much excitement last week as our Willow Field Café and Tuck Shop swung open its doors for business, marking a significant milestone in our Willow Field Café Project members journey towards entrepreneurship!

Over the past two years, girls from across Senior School have immersed themselves in a comprehensive curriculum guided by industry specialists. From crafting a meticulous business plan, navigating the intricacies of HR management, health and safety protocols, employment law, and he nuances of effective marketing and branding, the girls have covered it all. Empowered by a loan from the school, the club members successfully acquired the café unit before installing equipment and designing new branding over the 2023 Summer term.

On Friday 12 January during break time, the tuck shop had its grand opening, and the massive queues were a testament to the enthusiasm and anticipation about the project – the shop was so popular the shop had to open 3 serving windows to cope with the demand! A tempting array of treats exchanged hands – crisps, chocolates, drinks, and a variety of snacks – creating a hub of energy, despite the chilling January weather!

Congratulations to Year 10s Maya, Isla and Elise, who have led the project, overseen by Year 12 Marcy and student Head of Business and Enterprise, Year 13, India. We are sure that the new cafe and tuck shop will grow from strength to strength over the coming terms.

The café, located in the Willow Field, will be open several times a week during break times and after school (closing at 4:45), and closed on Tuesdays. Parents, guardians and staff, are welcome to visit the tuck shop after school.
