Aspiring Engineer Ellie is celebrating having received offers to study Biochemical Engineering at UCL, Surrey, Sheffield, Cardiff and Loughborough – that’s every university she applied to.

UCL is ranked amongst the Top 10 universities in the world in the 2021 QS University Rankings and was rated the top university in the UK for research strength in the most recent government Research Excellence Framework (REF). It has no fewer than 27 Nobel Prize winners associated with its Science Departments.

Sheffield ranks in the Top 10% of all UK universities in the latest REF, and 99% of the research it submits to REF is internationally recognised, excellent or world-leading. Loughborough and Surrey are a UK Top 10 universities for Engineering and the latest REF ranked Cardiff’s research top in the UK for impact.

Ellie said: “I was thrilled to receive offers from all the universities I applied to, and being able to pick between them really helped me make sure I found the perfect place for me. I think the opportunities Truro High gave me really boosted my application and speaking about my experiences as a boarding student gave a unique twist to my interviews – not to mention the supportive environment of the boarding house being the perfect stepping stone between living at home and living at a university dorm.”

Ellie is currently on a gap year having graduated from Truro High last August with exceptional A Level results.
