10 November 2014 / Formula One makes a pitstop at Truro High
Students from Truro High School got the rare chance to get behind the wheel of a Formula One racing car.
Students of all ages from Truro High School for Girls' were joined by Year 6 students from Mylor Bridge School when a racing car previously used in Formula One was brought in.
Truro High head of science, Jon Dean, said he hoped one of the pupils might be inspired to one day compete at world racing's highest level. He added: "After that, the next challenge is to be champion. Women's advantage is that they're lightweight. This offers girls the chance for fantastic success."
The event was arranged by Mr Dean to inspire girls on the Truro High Greenpower Car Race Team with designs for their vehicle, Kernow Kitt. It was organised by owner Terry Graves and sponsored by FolktoFolk Limited.
