9 February 2009 / High School Hockey Teams Are Champions Inside And Out
The school's Under 13 outdoor 'A' team also excelled at the Cornwall County Hockey Championships. The girls beat every team in their section scoring a total of 31 goals and not conceding any. They went on to beat Newquay Tretherras 4-0 in the semi-final and Bude 2-1 in the final.
Shona Harris was the team's top scorer notching up an impressive 20 goals in the course of the competition.
It's the third consecutive year Truro High has won the competition and the girls' success means they will represent Cornwall at the regional finals due to be held at Millfield in Somerset in April.
The Truro High under 13s 'B' team also competed in the same tournament and fared almost as well. They won three matches, drew one and only lost to second place Bude.
Head of PE at Truro High School, Deb Freeman, was extremely proud of all three teams and the huge effort they had put into the two competitions.
She said: "They work really hard at their hockey, they are enthusiastic and most importantly they enjoy the sport. They deserve their success."
