  • 6 December 2010 - 5 July 2011 / BOARDERS MULTI-TASK TO HELP OUT

Last week, like many schools in the West Country, we had late starts and earlier ends to the school day to help those travelling far and wide in snowy and icy conditions in particular. Cathrine and Hannah, two Year 11 boarders, happily manned the phones, took messages and generally helped out until the Reception staff could get in. Thank you girls - you were a great help! • 6 December 2010 - 5 July 2011 / PRACTISING THE ICE SKATING FOR THE ASTRO TURF!

With temperatures in Cornwall unusually below zero and the astro turf, netball and tennis courts proving slippery, our boarders' weekend trip this weekend was certainly topical. • 6 December 2010 - 5 July 2011 / HO! HO! HO! ALL THE FUN OF THE FAYRE!

Well what fun it was! Truro High School has just held its most successful Christmas Fayre for more than a decade as hundreds of parents, guests, pupils and staff took advantage of the opportunity to indulge in some festive fun and do some early Christmas shopping. Read full article...

Organised by the Friends of Truro High School (FoTHS), the event was extended this year to include the senior as well as the prep school. Local traders had been invited to participate - providing a wide range of stalls from which to buy, alongside games, tombolas, refreshments and other activities organised by the girls.

The prep school event was held in the school's dining hall where Father Christmas considerably increased the children's excitement by making an early appearance in Santa's Grotto and giving out presents. The senior event was staged in the Main Hall where the Truro High choir provided musical accompaniment in the form of Christmas carols.

"We decided to make the Christmas Fayre a whole school activity this year and it's certainly resulted an extremely well-attended occasion that everyone has really enjoyed," said Headmistress Caroline Pascoe. "A lot of money has been raised for both the school and local charities and the girls have had great fun planning their own stalls. It's proved a fantastic start to the Christmas season."
