All overseas borders (whether international or British) are required to have an appointed guardian who must reside in the UK.
The role of the guardian is to help support your daughter through her time at school in the UK. As a minimum, this might involve helping with arrangements for the half term holidays and being an emergency contact, for example should your daughter fall ill and need to be away from the school for a time.
The most successful guardians will act as a link between the pupils and their parents, keeping in contact through the term and taking an interest in their work and social life. If geography allows it, they will be able to attend parents’ evenings, concerts and sports events and even take their charges out for the occasional hot chocolate (or milkshake) at the weekends.
