The showcase is all part of the annual end of year Pet Show – an eagerly anticipated and highly competitive event.

The girls are asked to use animals, ranging from beloved family pets to the world’s incredible wildlife, to inspire them. Each class produces poetry, photographs, creative writing, art, miniature gardens and animals fashioned from fruit and vegetables.

Some girls also bring their pets to school. This year saw the hall jam-packed with creatures including degus, rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs and even a tortoise or two.

The girls were even lucky enough to meet Prep 5 Leela’s three-week-old silkie bantam chicks. Leela said she had been inspired by historical queens when she named the chicks and that they were called Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleves and Queen Victoria.

The school’s Learning Dog Issey also got stuck in with the animal antics to take centre stage for a puppy portrait competition. Girls from Reception – Prep 4 had great fun sketching their waggy-tailed model earlier in the week who also offered her paw-spective on their pieces as an honorary member of the judging panel.

The school would also like to extend a huge thank you to their human judges who joined them for the day including former Head of Prep School Mrs Miller, Truro High Governor and vet Mrs Hall, Truro High parent Mrs Humphreys and all of the Prep School staff.
