Truro High’s Prep 5 and 6 football team is celebrating having just ranked third in the whole of Cornwall in the Girls’ Under 11 7-a-side Tournament.

The girls performed brilliantly throughout the day. They won 2-0 against Charlestown, 3-1 against Mount Charles and 2-0 against Wadebridge, who would go on to take second place overall.

Their success saw them progress to the semi-finals where they narrowly lost 2-1 to the tournament’s overall winners, Mount Hawke.

The third place play off saw them pitted against Archbishop Benson School and Truro High won 2-1.

Team coach, Mr Peter Mothersole said: “It was really inspiring to watch the girls play today. They flew into every match with such passion and supported each other admirably. They have put so much hard work and energy into this tournament and it’s wonderful to see their efforts pay off. To be ranked third in the county is such an honour – we are all unbelievably proud.”
