Trips
Our students grow through the experiences they have with us and we will enrich their studies with trips and visits throughout the school year in order to stretch and challenge their learning way beyond the confines of the classroom. These aim to broaden the scope of the curriculum and give our girls access to world-class facilities and expertise that can take their learning all the way to degree level, whatever their age.
Every year for example, our Art, Textiles and Business students head to London to be inspired by the latest designer collections and sell-out exhibitions at world famous galleries and museums. Equally, our English and Theatre students will bring their texts to life by seeing a multi-award winning National Theatre production whilst our biologists will spend a day with the experts at the National Marine Aquarium to enrich their study of sealife.

Trips
It’s a process that begins in Prep School where history lessons are complemented by visits to the museum, Geography comes alive with a trip to the rugged coastline and Engineering steps up a gear with a day of competition at the racetrack.
A highlight of the Prep School calendar is our May residential where girls from Prep 3 to Prep 6 travel away from school for a four day action-packed adventure. For some, it’s their first time away from home and represents an opportunity to spread their wings and learn new skills whilst still enjoying the support and care of their Truro High family.

Degree-level lectures, conferences and masterclasses
Departments offer trips to universities for competitions, lectures and masterclasses in order to stretch learning to degree level. The girls also have the opportunity to attend academic conferences to explore subjects with world-class experts in further depth.

Galleries, museums and cultural excursions
We often organise trips to take inspiration from the collections and latest exhibitions at internationally renowned museums and galleries. Recent cultural excursions have included the Tate Modern, V&A, Roman Baths at Bath, RSC at Stratford-Upon-Avon, Jane Austen’s Bath and many more.
Famous galleries such as the Tate St Ives are also right on our doorstep and, as well as visiting, our girls have even had their work on show to the public there.

Outward bound
Empowering girls to push their boundaries is a huge part of how we help them develop the skills they will need to take on any challenges they will face in the future with confidence.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award will see them pulling on hiking boots to navigate the Cornish coastline, a journey that for some will end in the trip of a lifetime canoeing through the Swedish fjords. Equally a whole year group might spend a weekend working on teambuilding on the North Coast or jet off for a week-long watersports residential at the end of term.
Recent trips have included Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre, the Isles of Scilly, Sweden and the Ardeche.

Teambuilding and Social outings
Taking time out to bond and cultivate friendships is a hugely important part of the Truro High experience. Recent trips have included heading to the beach to focus on mindfulness during exam season, ice skating at the Eden Project, retail therapy in Exeter, an afternoon at the cinema and many more. Ski trips are also offered to pupils and their families.
