We couldn’t be more proud of our dance teacher, Clare Meardon, who is taking over the reins of the Duchy Ballet, where she will fulfil the role of Artistic and Creative Director.

The youth ballet company is the only one of its kind in Cornwall and one of very few in the South West.

Formed to celebrate the opening of The Hall for Cornwall in November 1997, the company provides young dancers with the opportunity to train, rehearse and perform within a professional setting, alongside artists from the national and international stage.

Clare said: “It’s a great opportunity for Truro High girls to take part in professional ballet especially with the company’s 25th anniversary show coming up in 2023.”

She will also be establishing a Duchy Ballet associates programme with monthly workshops with top level performers.

Clare currently teaches girls aged from 4 to 14 here at Truro High and will continue to tutor our young dancers in their weekly lessons here at school alongside her new role.

Clare is also the Principal of Savvy Studios, which will this Summer be hosting a number of workshops including junior Ballet, Acro, Lyrical, Commercial, Musical Theatre and Theatre Craft and workshops for adults such as Aerial Pilates, Pilates for Lower Back Pain and even Disco Barre.
