Exeter ranks 2nd in the UK for Sports Science in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and in the top 10 in the world for sports-related subjects in the QS University Rankings.

Chichester places amongst the top 30 universities in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2021. 97% of its sports research activity is internationally recognised with a large element of that being deemed to be world-leading.

Roisin said: “I was ecstatic to receive the offers – they are my two top choices! Having the opportunity to gain leadership experience through being Head of Sixth Form, captain of the school sailing team and working as a lifeguard here at school really helped to show the Admissions teams my passion for sailing and drive to learn more about what it takes to become a great sailor.”

Roisin has been sailing for 10 years and currently competes with St Mawes Sailing Club, balancing a rigorous training schedule with her A Levels.

A talented sportswoman, she has already made a name for herself on the international sailing scene. When pitted against Olympians and international competitors at the Dinghy Fest Championships, for example, Roisin and her sailing partner, Amy, won 1st place as a youth team and finished 4th overall in their class. She has also proven her mettle against Olympians in the Volvo Noble Marine RS200 Championships and last year passed her dinghy instructor’s course in order to pass on her passion for watersports to Cornwall’s young sailors.

Roisin hopes to have a career working alongside an international professional sailing team. She plans to take a gap year after her completing her A Level courses in order to perfect keelboat sailing and learn how to race offshore.
