The club will operate in school once guidelines allow but, in the meantime, the school may operate a Family Drone Challenge if the girls are keen.

This would see families working together to design and build their drones at home before pitting them against each other, and the clock, on our aerial obstacle course later in the school year.

To register their interest, students should contact our Head of STEM, Mr Jon Dean at jdean@trurohigh.co.uk.

They can also ask questions face to face at our new virtual Race Club which will take place on Teams at 4pm on Wednesdays. Please don’t panic if your daughter isn’t there for today’s meeting – it is not too late to join in next week.

From Greenpower racing to regular workshops with industry experts, there are a wealth of opportunities for girls to get involved with engineering at Truro High. Due to its reputation for engineering, the school is the first in the country to be recognised as an official motorsport club by Motorsport UK.

Our Aspiring Engineers programme also continues to go from strength to strength. The bespoke programme, which has moved online throughout lockdown, introduces girls of all ages to the huge number of career paths on offer in this sector with workshops, mentoring and one-to-one support to best prepare them for the applications and interviews ahead.

There have been even more exciting engineering developments over the last term which saw the official opening of our Prep STEM room as well as plans being unveiled for A Level students to develop two Formula Junior race cars.
