A cross-curricular initiative between our Art and Religious Philosophy departments, the competition challenges students to create a piece of art, poetry, photography, dance, music, drama or sculpture inspired by one of its philosophical themes.
This year’s themes include “We have far more in common with each other than that which divides us”, climate change, healing, Where is God? and inspiration.
Now in its 18th year, Spirited Arts has attracted over 380,000 participants (averaging 20,000 per year) since 2004. Hundreds of UK schools get involved but entries come from as far afield as Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand and Bahrain. It is run by NATRE, the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education.
We hope that the girls will enjoy the opportunity to flex both their philosophical and creative muscles at home through this exciting project. They will be able to enter their pieces when we fully open our doors again and we will hold an exhibition of all the pieces created for the competition in school.
