Dr Dollins set herself the ambitious target – the equivalent of running from Truro to Bristol – last September when the school launched its campaign to complete 140 challenges in celebration of this landmark year.

She has clocked up the miles every week on the school’s Astroturf as well as attending a number of 5K parkruns prior to the Covid-19 lockdown.

She said: “I’ve been running for a few years but it properly took off when I drove some boarders to the parkrun at Trelissick early one Saturday last February. When I picked them up they looked so happy that I thought I would try it. It was amazing and the girls even cheered me on as I came up the hill at the end!”

“Since then I’ve been going to the Trelissick parkrun whenever I can – I even took my running shoes with me when I went to London for the weekend in December and tried out Southwark parkrun. I have also been making use of the Astroturf and after the Cambodia Challenge day, which I really enjoyed, I decided to challenge myself to run 140 miles this academic year. It’s been brilliant and now we’re here, I can’t wait to carry on.”

“We are so lucky that we live in a part of the country where, even during the current restrictions, most of us can still access a beautiful outside space for exercise. I am however looking forward to being able to go for a long walk on the coast path again and, of course, to run a parkrun!”
