Arabella was inspired to undertake this internationally-recognised qualification when she went diving on a family holiday 2 years ago and she has been patiently waiting to turn the legal age required to undertake the training ever since.

The assessors were impressed by Arabella’s maturity and skill as she took on tasks in open water including an emergency ascent, swapping between her regulator and secondary air source, sharing oxygen between herself and a partner whilst submerged.

Proud mum, Melanie said: “I’m so proud! There was such a lot of studying and the practical side was very tough. Because Arabella is only 10, I did all the elements of the practical as well so can fully appreciate just how hard it was.”
