Year 12 Charlotte will be taking on the role of Head Girl alongside deputies Emily and Justine.
Charlotte has been a part of the Truro High School community since the age of 4-years-old and is incredibly excited to now have the opportunity to offer her years of experience to girls of all ages in the role of Head Girl.
She said: “I want to do the absolute best that I can so I’m excited and a little bit nervous but so ready to get started. To be honest, I can’t wait.”
A keen musician and actress, Charlotte can often be found in the school’s performing arts centre leading rehearsals and practising for starring roles in student productions. A real team player, Charlotte leads her own 10-piece acapella choir and this term even led the senior school choir in the place of its usual conductor, Mr Norman, as part of her Gold Arts Award. The 50-strong choir involves all of the school’s Year 7 cohort as well as a huge number of talented singers from the Senior School and Sixth Form.
Her deputies Emily and Justine are also always keen to lead from the front. Aiming to embark on a career in medicine, Emily is about to take the reins of helping to organise the school’s Aspiring Medics Programme alongside a huge number of work placements which she will be undertaking over the next year to support her medical application.
Her classmate Justine also has her sights set high and hopes to train at Sandhurst to work in military intelligence. Both a languages and motorsport school ambassador, the 17-year-old made the headlines last autumn when she beat all 300 competitors in the 10K Royal Marines 2018 Commando Challenge and again when she conquered Everest in her attempt to become the youngest person to conquer all seven of the world’s highest mountains.
The girls are already making big plans for the year ahead including hosting a fundraising challenge day for the whole school, increasing the provision for student mentors and even, hopefully, setting up a school cadet force.
The school would like to say a huge thank you to its current Head Girl team who have done an incredible job over the last year. Thea, Sarah and Ezgi will be handing over the reins to Charlotte, Emily and Justine at the start of the Summer term.
There are a whole host of leadership opportunities available to the school’s students ranging from subject ambassadors to the Head Girl Team. Roles such as these aim to help girls to develop into ambitious and articulate leaders who have the confidence to take responsibility and lead from the front.
