The team was delighted to welcome rising female motorsport star, Jamie-Lea Hawley, as guest of honour at this celebration of the many highs and occasional lows of a busy racing year.

Jamie-Lea was the only female driver to feature in the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior Championships at the age of 15 and after a very successful year she has aspirations to progress into the senior championships. She has previously raced in karting’s Junior X30 category and also Fiesta Junior cars, in which she has become a front-running name.

The team was also honoured to have several high profile guests presenting awards including James Robinson, an ex-McLaren and Williams engineer working with Rebellion Le Mans/Proust; Kevin Moore, from the Motor Sports Association; Neil Yates, owner and founder of Rally Prep; Dr Rachel Nicolls-Lee, the founder of Whiskerstay Marine and Naval Architects; Greenpower UK ambassador Vaughan Curnow and Graham Bultitude, the founder of Bristol Batteries.

This ever-popular engineering project has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months. The Senior fleet finished the season with two places in the top 100 national rankings and the School’s Prep racers scooped three trophies South West Greenpower Goblin racing championships – one for every car that entered.

Guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal ahead of a series of awards which recognised everything from exceptional driving and engineering to embodying the spirit of Greenpower.

The school’s students work incredibly hard on this project and special thanks must go to Head of STEM Mr Jon Dean and his team of volunteers who give hour after hour over the course of the year to ensure the team are ready to hit the track.
