Over four rounds since October, the team have played matches against 17 of the county’s top teams to claim this coveted title. They beat main rivals Truro Hockey Club in the opening game and held on to the 3 point lead throughout, winning every single match in the league. Truro High was the only school to enter a team in this hotly-contested competition.

The victory was made all the sweeter by the fact that this is the first time in 8 years that the team have claimed this title, having taken silver and bronze places for many years.

It is a truly glorious end of an era for Year 9 sisters Katie and Lucy, who have been in the squad since they were in Prep 5.

Director of Sport Ms Kat Barbery-Redd said: “It really is a superb achievement and continues with the fabulous hockey successes we have seen this season.”

The victory follows a year of phenomenal sporting success for the School which is home to six hockey county champion teams. Our U11s, U13s, U14s, U15s, U16s and U18s have all proven themselves a force to be reckoned with and currently hold these prestigious titles.

The squad consisted of: Katie M, Katie D, Lucy, Emma, Olivia, Orlagh, Georgina, Liesl, Lucia, Esme, Tillunah-Belle and Poppy.
