Congratulations to Year 8s Kitty, Edie, Sophie, Emily, Hermione, Naomi and Bella who have smashed their ambitious target of running 140km between them in aid of the NHS Sowenna Appeal.

The girls set themselves the challenge as part of our 140th anniversary celebrations and completed it in a fortnight, running every day after school.

They have raised over £700 for this worthy cause.

They said: “Many people are finding lockdown a particularly tough time, so we wanted to support young people our age who are struggling with their mental health.”

Sowenna will be Cornwall’s first adolescent mental health unit and is currently being built on the Bodmin Hospital site. The appeal is seeking funding for approximately £1.2 million to transform the unit from a high-quality centre to the best adolescent mental health unit in the country.
