To mark the end of Lent Term, last week we joined together as a school community in celebration and remembrance of our Founder, Bishop Edward Benson, at our annual Founder’s Day service held at Truro Cathedral. 2025 marks 145 years since our school’s establishment, and this service serves as an opportunity to celebrate Truro High School, and the students who make it the dynamic, World Class School it is today.

Our guest of honour this year was former THS Deputy Head Girl, Viv Carveth. In her final year of Sports & Exercise Science at Loughborough University, she also serves as Chairwoman of the Loughborough Students Hockey Club, where she oversees club operations and development, managing a team of 40 hockey umpires across the university. Balancing the demands of elite-level officiating with university studies has been a challenge, but one she has navigated with resilience – a quality she attributes in part to her education at Truro High School for Girls. She spoke to our community about the pivotal role that Truro High played in her journey, and her plans for the future, where she hopes to make a lasting impact on the sporting industry.

We are immensely proud of our heritage and community, and Founder’s Day is a wonderful reminder of the generations of young women empowered here to forge their own remarkable paths. Thank you to Viv for returning to THS to inspire our community, to all those who attended the service and joined us in marking this occasion, and well done to our student speakers, musicians and performers.
