One of only seven young players to make the cut, the 14-year-old THS student impressed county assessors during Cornwall squad training sessions leading to her selection.

She will now represent Cornwall at the end of the month at the under 18 County Tennis Cup. Even more impressive, the majority of players at the tournament will be many years her senior.

This is the third county-call up for Lucy who has previously competed for the under 12 and under 14 Cornwall squads. She currently ranks at number 4 in Cornwall in the under 18 category.

Proud mum Gill said: “This is a great honour for Lucy and she has worked incredibly hard at her tennis to attain a valued place in the team and represent Cornwall. Her call-up to the under 18 team is certainly a huge step up and challenge. Her attitude is fantastic, keeping a cool head when required – she is truly a huge asset to the Cornish team.”

Lucy balances her training schedule alongside her GCSE studies as she drives towards her ultimate goal of becoming a key figure in Westminster.
