In March, we were delighted to host over 100 Year 10-11 students from Truro High and schools across Cornwall for an inspiring ‘Discover Psychology’ taster event! Led by Senior Examiner and AQA textbook author, Jean-Marc Lawton, alongside Truro High’s Psychology Lead, Kathy Pooley, the event introduced students to Psychology as a science, exploring real-world applications of key A-Level topics.

The day was not only an academic deep dive but also a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with like-minded peers from different schools, ask questions, and gain valuable recommendations for wider reading, watching, and listening. The students engaged with psychological research, examined how Psychology connects to media and societal issues, and discovered the diverse career pathways the subject can lead to. The enthusiasm and curiosity in the room was clear, and the event was a huge success, with students – and their accompanying teachers – commenting on how fascinating and engaging the event was! Thank you to Jean-Marc and Mrs Pooley for organising the event – a brilliant introduction to the fascinating world of A-Level Psychology.
