Our new Head Girl Team was appointed today and the girls say that they can’t wait to get started in their new leadership roles. Year 12 Meena will be taking on the role of Head Girl alongside her deputies Iris and Maddie.

Aiming to embark on a career in medicine, Meena has been part of the Truro High family since she was 13-years-old.

Alongside her studies, Meena is an extremely active member of our community – she is heavily involved in our Aspiring Medics Programme, plays in a number of orchestral groups and volunteers as a maths tutor to primary school aged children during her evenings.

Always intellectually curious, Meena often stretches her learning by entering national competitions such as the Senior Physics Challenge and The British Brain Bee. She has written scientific papers and, last summer, she even engaged in an undergraduate level physics project as part of our Pre-A Level programme.

Her deputies Iris and Maddie are also always keen to lead from the front. Alongside her studies, Maddie founded an online business during lockdown which is already achieving great success and is currently mentoring our Year 10 students who take part in Young Enterprise.

Alongside her studies, Maddie is a keen performer, playing in school concerts, speaking at prestigious events and taking roles in school productions every year.

Joining the school this year, international boarder Iris is also a real team player. She has taken part in a huge number of dressage competitions in Malaysia, is currently working towards her black belt in Karate and often volunteers at pet shelters.

The school would like to say a huge thank you to its current Head Girl team who have done an incredible job over the last year. Sage, Hannah and Viv will be handing over the reins to Meena, Maddie and Iris at the start of the Summer term.

There are a whole host of leadership opportunities available to the school’s students ranging from subject ambassadors to the Head Girl Team. Roles such as these aim to help girls to develop into ambitious and articulate leaders who have the confidence to take responsibility and lead from the front.
