UCL, Cardiff and Newcastle are all part of the prestigious Russell Group.

UCL ranks among the top 10 “super-elite” universities in the world in the QS University Rankings and consistently places in the top 10 universities in the UK for history and politics.

Cardiff ranks 20th, Kent 22nd and Newcastle 28th in the UK in the QS World University Rankings for history.

Iris said: “Receiving my offers was really exciting. I know that I’m going to love my course so much and that it’ll help me with my goals. I have felt really supported throughout the application process, and I always had help when I needed it which was great. Having historiography sessions was really useful, and the weekly UCAS sessions in Sixth Form were a big help especially.”

Iris undertook one-to-one historiography classes with Truro High’s Head of Humanities and Enterprise, Mr George Ford, in order to enrich her UCAS application and prepare for the rigourous study which lies ahead at university.

Alongside her studies, she has undertaken work experience in Parliament, been closely involved with the British Youth Council and even remotely volunteered on a US senate campaign over the summer.

She continued: “I think it’s what helped impress the university admissions teams and doing the EPQ in school was also really useful to talk about on my application.”

Iris has her sights set on eventually working in Westminster and hopes to work in the US as a political organiser after university in order to make that dream a reality.

It’s an exciting time of the year for our Upper Sixth who have been celebrating the start of what looks like a bumper crop of offers from top universities including Durham University, University of Warwick and UCL. The deadline for offers passes at the end of April so the school will be reporting plenty of exciting news over the coming months.
