The events offer girls the chance to sample the latest bestsellers ahead of them being added to the senior library’s shelves. Girls from Year 7 to Sixth Form will have the chance to get involved in this exciting new initiative.
The series was launched with an after-school event open to Year 7 students celebrating National Non-Fiction November. Girls had the chance to sample books including Dissenter on the Bench: Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Life and Work; Black and British: A Short, Essential History and Fashion Conscious – Change the world with a change of clothes.
Non-alcoholic bubbles and cupcakes were also on offer and a lively discussion ensued as the girls tasted a wide range of books. They will be publishing reviews over the coming weeks in order to inspire other girls to read them too.
The initiative has been organised by Mrs Freya Woodruff, School Librarian and English Teacher. It is the first of many for the library, which last month hosted a Black History Month quiz trail and has also just launched a brand-new essay writing competition.
