Now a regular part of the school’s timetable, the skills-based programme will challenge students to hone their problem solving and critical thinking skills in engineering, business and outdoor learning.

The programme involves all students in Year 9.

Topics include developing and preparing for market a biscuit brand, designing and building a skeleton bobsled and learning how to survive in the wild. Students will engage with one subject each term for two hours every week.

Director of Teaching and Learning, Mrs Jo House explained: “It’s all about giving the girls the opportunity to bring together multiple disciplines with a very concrete and practical goal in mind. They’ll be immersed in unfamiliar situations and have to learn how to apply their knowledge and navigate these scenarios successfully.”

“Being able to recognise and utilise transferable skills are fundamental for all learners and will prepare them to face the challenges of the future with confidence. Having the luxury to go beyond the national curriculum and engage with this style of learning in a meaningful way every week is fantastic and will hugely benefit every girl in her future career. There was an incredible atmosphere in today’s sessions and I can’t wait to see more.”

The launch comes as the school celebrates an impressive crop of exam results which saw 85% of A Level grades at A* or A and every student achieving the grades needed for their first choice university offer.

It is a tremendous achievement for the girls’ school which is also the only school in Cornwall to be shortlisted for the prestigious Independent School of the Year Awards due to its excellent holistic education.
