The editorial team is made up of girls from Year 7 to Year 12 with Sixth Former Lowena fulfilling the roles of both Editor and Creative Designer.

The new club meets once a week on Wednesday lunchtimes with members researching stories, swapping ideas and writing together.

Lowena explained: “I decided to begin the paper in response to the growing debate about lowering the voting age. Such an issue raised to me the importance of freedom of speech and the necessity of making sure our voices, as the young people of Britain, can be heard amidst claims that we cannot formulate clear judgement.”

“Through the paper, I hope to inform club members on the prevalence of ‘fake news’ and how to decipher the truth in reports so that we can operate in the ‘real world with confidence in our understanding of current events.”

The first issue features in-depth stories on a variety of issues from politics to the environment and all are supported by Lowena’s stunning illustrations although she hopes to get the school’s Art Club involved in future issues.

A big well done to Lowena and to all those who contributed – Arabella, Esme, Iris, Isabella, Lauren, Lucy, Oriana and Sheba. To read the first issue, click on the link here
