Grace’s impressive application has resulted in the university’s Streatham and Penryn campuses both vying to take her on to their prestigious Law courses.

Part of the Russell Group, Exeter ranks in the top 100 universities in the world for Law in the Times Higher Education University Rankings and in the top 10 institutions in the country in the Guardian University Guide.

The School of Law counts some of the world’s foremost lawyers and law officials amongst its alumni including President of the Malaysian Bar Council, Dato Ambiga Sreenevasan; Former Attorney General for England and Wales, Jeremy Wright; British Royal Family solicitor, Fiona Shackleton; Chairman of leading global insurance broker, Willis International Ltd, Sarah Turvill; leading corporate tax lawyer, Steve Edge; and current Indonesian National Chief of Police, Muhammad Tito Karnavian to name but a few.

The University of Plymouth was so impressed with Grace’s personal statement that it has offered her a place with significantly reduced grades.

Grace said: “It’s a great feeling. The support in Sixth Form has been amazing and the Aspiring Lawyers programme has been a huge bonus. More than anything, it’s just great to have a group of likeminded people who you can discuss ideas with and talk about all the options open to you. Taking on leadership roles like being Deputy Head of Sixth Form and a Languages Ambassador have also really helped to boost my confidence.”

Truro High’s Aspiring Lawyers programme offers the school’s students, wishing to pursue a career at the Bar, a tailored calendar of lectures, workshops, mentoring and one-to-one support to support their application into their chosen branch of Law. This year, guests ranging from High Court Judge and chairman of the Litvinenko Enquiry, Sir Robert Owen to tribal humans rights specialist Gabriella Rutherford have all visited the school to pass on their expertise. Other weeks have seen students going behind the scenes at the Crown Court and heading to university-run Law conferences.
