She already has her sights set on a completing a half marathon later this year.

Against 580 male and female competitors of all ages, the Sixth Former completed the undulating 10-mile course around the Camborne and Leeds town area in just 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Even more impressive, Miriam is believed to have been the youngest competitor to take part in this endurance event and many who entered the competition were several years her senior.

Whilst temperatures made for ideal running conditions, the course was not easy and included a hard and long climb just before the 4-mile mark and a final stiff hill which hit competitors just after 8 miles.

Miriam said: “It was an amazing feeling – running is so freeing and a great way to remove yourself from a busy week for a couple of hours. I love the feeling of achieving a big goal like this and I haven’t reached my limit yet so I’m really excited to see how far I can go if I keep on pushing myself.”

Her achievement is the latest in a series of 140 challenges being undertaken by THS students, staff and parents to commemorate the school’s 140th birthday.

The race follows an exciting couple of months for Miriam which has seen her take on the 5-mile Mob Match in Falmouth and several 5K park runs.

She is now busy preparing to take on the Newquay 10K race next month and a half marathon later in the year.

Miriam competes with Falmouth Road Runners club, balancing her training schedule alongside her studies. She is currently applying to a number of the country’s top universities to read English Literature.
