Reviewed by the NHS as “the best academic medical experience on offer”, Operating Theatre Live is bringing its national tour to Truro High School on Saturday 14 March 2020 from 9am to 3pm for the main event with optional workshops for an insight into emergency medicine and medical entrance examinations from 3pm to 6pm.

Aimed at those aged 13-19 who are considering a career in nursing, healthcare, medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, the event will offer students the chance to take on the role of a surgeon, practising surgical techniques on real specimens led by human anatomist Samuel Piri and his team of clinicians. Interactive clinics will cover everything from administering anaesthetic and lung intubation to blood testing, angioplasty, reading an ECG and even neurosurgery.

Sam said: “I personally write the academic content and produce all of the activities myself. I and my team guarantee you a breath-taking, unforgettable trip through the human body like never before.”

“Each student will leave stretched and challenged having made measurable progress against the science specification, we’ve got them all covered including GCSE, A Levels, BTEC’s Scottish National 5 and Highers.”

This is the only UK touring surgical experience offering an academically rigorous educational experience matched to English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish exam specifications.

Truro High is the only school or college in the county to host this unique medical experience.

Current students at the school are being offered a special discount and should email events@trurohigh.co.uk to book their place. If you are a current student at Truro High School, do not book online as the costs are higher and you will NOT receive the Truro High School discount.

Places are limited and the event is open to students across Cornwall and Devon.
