Year 8 student Bee said: “It was really fun and so interesting to learn about things like dealing with stress and working together as a team.”

Classmate Heather said: “It was great to bond with my friends and do so many activities – I’d love to do it again next year!”

Part of the school’s comprehensive PSHE and enrichment programme, the day saw students building their confidence in essential skills to help maintain a healthy lifestyle including meditation, teambuilding and healthy relationships alongside specially trained guest speakers.

Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Matthews said: “As a school, we firmly believe in putting student wellbeing at the heart of the curriculum so it is absolutely vital that we equip our girls with the skills and resilience to confidently face whatever challenges may come their way in the future.”

“These life skills are as important to us as academic success and an essential part of how we empower our students to not only survive but thrive in school and the world beyond its gates.”

The day comes as a recent YouGov survey shows that youth happiness levels in the UK have fallen most sharply over the last decade in respect of relationships with friends and emotional health.

Aware of the importance of wellbeing in every student’s education, Truro High School offers a comprehensive PSHE and enrichment programme which involves girls as young as 4 years old.

This ranges from Pre-Prep relaxercise classes to peer mentoring and opportunities for students to gain Mental Health First Aid qualifications.

This September, the school has even launched a ‘Big Sister, Little Sister’ programme which pairs up Year 7 students with Year 10s in order to offer younger girls support and guidance as they start their journey through the senior school.
