The appeal comes ahead of the school’s Harvest Service which will be held at St John’s Church Truro on Friday 11 October.

Figures have revealed that a rising number of struggling families are relying on foodbanks in Cornwall. This August, Truro Foodbank provided 244 emergency supplies to people in crisis compared to 164 last year – an increase of almost 50%.

The organisation aims to ensure that these vulnerable members of our community do not have to face going hungry in times of crisis. It is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Families are being invited to donate items such as tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, long life fruit juice and coffee which are in particularly short supply at the Foodbank currently. All donations of packet and tinned food are also greatly appreciated and most welcome.

If you would like to offer your support in any way, please ensure your daughter gives your donations to her form tutor or brings them to main school reception ahead of Friday 11 October.

The Foodbank has expressed its profound gratitude to the school community in advance as demand for these foods continues to rise.
