In a field which featured Olympians as well as international competitors, the 16-year-old proudly finished 76th in this gruelling 5-day competition.

Rubbing shoulders with Olympians is right where Roisin wants to be; she’s firmly set her sights on competing at the Paris 2024 Olympics. When asked about who she’d want to represent out of Team GB and the Irish Olympic team, she said “I’m not sure, whoever asked first. Probably Ireland”.

Roisin has been sailing for 10 years now, with her dad initially getting her into the sport: “He still competes, sometimes we even compete together in family events”.

If she isn’t competing in sailing events, Roisin is most definitely out on the water. She even recently passed her dinghy instructor’s course so she can now pass on her passion for watersports to Cornwall’s young sailors as well.

Roisin currently sails with St Mawes Sailing Club, balancing a rigorous training schedule with her A Levels. She said: “I train once, maybe twice a week, but they’re long sessions, 3 or 4 hours long usually”.
