Mrs Kate Roberts, Boarding House Mistress at the school, says that the addition of Aggie will benefit the girls greatly: “It allows the girls to feel like they have a home from home, with many of them having family pets already.”
Not only does Mrs Roberts believe dogs help with homesickness, but also with the girls’ wellbeing.
She said: “It’s so important these days to look after your mental health, and sometimes a five minute cuddle with the puppy can really sort you out”.
Aggie isn’t alone in her new role. She’ll slot in alongside Meg, a beloved black Labrador who will be sure to help her new pup friend.
Boarders will now be able to walk both the dogs around the grounds. Out of school hours, the girls are also encouraged to join Mrs Roberts on coastal walks, of course bringing Aggie along too.
“When A-levels come around, the girls will really be feeling the pressure; we just want them to be able to relieve the stress with the help of either Aggie or Meg”.
