Truro Cathedral was close to full as girls from across the senior school gathered to remember twelve months packed with stories of academic achievement and individual triumph.

Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Matthews spoke about her immense pride in all that the girls have done ranging from representing the school at county and national level in various sports to setting the pace in the Arts and Science world. She also called for an end to the culture of comparison that is so damaging to the well-being of teenage girls saying each pupil must be celebrated for her own great achievements and not have those achievements compared to those of others.

Chair of Governors, Mr John Keast spoke warmly of his feelings about the school and thanked staff and his fellow Governors for all that they do.

This year’s Speaker was former student Gabriella Rutherford who works with Survival International to represent the rights of indigenous tribes around the world. She inspired the girls to follow their passions, to be comfortable in their own skin and to know that they have the skills and ability to do whatever they want.

Earlier in the day, it was the turn of the school’s younger pupils to mark a wonderful year in Prep. In a hall specially bedecked for the occasion, Head of Prep Miss Annabel Ramsey described an action-packed year full of excitement for girls of all ages.

Both Pre-Prep and Prep choirs gave beautiful performances and parents were, as always, reduced to tears as the members of Prep 6 bid their farewell to the Prep School with an account of all they have done during their time there. The girls are now excited about their new adventures in senior school and the school looks forward to seeing them again in September.
