Year 9s Charlotte and Arabella have been volunteering with the 8th Truro Methodist Rainbows since last September as part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The girls both completed their volunteering period during winter but enjoyed their time with the group so much that they have stayed on to train as Girlguiding young leaders.

The 14-year-olds spend two hours every week overseeing the Rainbows working at the craft tables, running the warm up games and helping the other leaders set up and clear away. They also frequently support the group on Saturday events and their monthly church parades.

The girls even followed their recent final Duke of Edinburgh expedition with a weekend spent educating and entertaining over 50 5 to 7-year-olds for the Rainbows adventure day at Girlguiding Cornwall’s campsite.
